I just found this and thought I’d share… The above poster for the Folsom Street Fair 2007 got boycotted by some Catholics and Miller pulled it out at the last minute, lest it conceive a pr scandal born of the virgin Mary.

I found this comment and it echos how I personally feel:

“… I want to speak in support of this poster. To claim that using an image in this way is “blasphemy” is itself a form of idolatry. To declare that the subject matter of a given piece of art should make it somehow “off limits” for parody or satire is to elevate that artwork to the level of the Bible, and even of the Divine. If anything, this poster reveals that leatherfolk are as spiritual as any other, and that we see sexuality and eroticism as one aspect of spiritual connection and communion. So, to the organizers of FSF 2007 I say: Keep the faith! ” -Desmond Ravenstone
